On Thursday, November 1st 2012, Back Cove Yachts
had the pleasure of Angus King stopping by for a tour of the production floor.
As Jason Constantine, COO of Back Cove Yachts describes, “He was really
interested in the process of building boats, the technology employed by today’s
builders, and the success those building and servicing boats in the state are
currently experiencing.”
Jason and Kevin Burns, VP of Design and Product Development,
gave Mr. King a tour of the 100,000 sq. ft. facility where the three Back Cove models
(Back Cove 30, Back Cove 34 and Back Cove 37) are built from start to finish.
King shook hands with many associates on the floor and was very interested in
how the plant worked. He enjoyed seeing the entire process; from when the hull
comes out of the mold to the finished wood work.
King appeared pleased to hear that the company was employing
the same number of employees as before the recession. Not only is the
manufacturing industry surviving in Coastal Maine, but it’s thriving.
You don’t have to be running for office to get a tour of the
Back Cove facility. If you’re interested, please feel free to give the Back
Cove Yachts office a call and we’d be happy to accommodate you! 207- 594-8821
