Klaus and Elizabeth took delivery of their Back Cove Chinook on May 2nd in Rockland, ME. Their dealer was Coastal Carolina Yacht Sales of Charleston, SC: commissioning and launch were completed at Journey’s End Marina in Rockland.
Klaus, a USCG licensed Master, and Advanced Pilot and Instructor in US Power Squadrons sailed a 33 ft boat in New England, a 43 ft sloop along the East Coast from Bahamas to Maine, and a Nordhavn 40 Trawler on the West Coast, from Dana Point, CA, to Seattle, for 12 years along the Inside Passage to Alaska from Seattle to Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay.
Klaus selected the Back Cove 37 for renewed sailing along the entire East Coast with excursions into inland water ways. Klaus states ” I am convinced that the Back Cove 37 will be suited for our plans, offering a range of good performance and economy of operation. At 1400 RPM our 37 achieves a good 10 kt, 2.6 nmpg, using 4gph. This is comparable to our trawler’s at 8 kt, and a good setting for running the ICW, rivers, and canals. Much higher speeds are at hand when appropriate and needed.”
” We were very pleased by our dealer, Journey’s End Marina, and the support by Back Cove Yachts. Rockland has become one of our favorite small towns.”
