Mechanical spaces

Back Cove 37 hull #1 will get it's engine installed this week. The 600 hp Cummins QSC 8.3 engine is a beautiful "piece of kit" (an English expression that I like a lot). Unique to the Back Cove 37 is a separate engine compartment and mechanical space. In her engine room the operator will find the engine, Onan 9.0Kw gen set, marine gear, shaft seal, Racor filters for gen set and main engine and two water tanks one on either side of the main engine. Batteries will also be located here. This space is accessed by the lifting helm deck cabin sole which hinges from a point just aft of the helm seats. An emergency egress hatch in the forward bulkhead (*) would permit someone to exit in front of the helm chairs.

All other systems components are found in a mechanical space between the main engine room and the cabins. Access to thisspaces is via a hatch in the galley sole. Within this space are the water, macerator and air conditioning pumps, waste tank and hot water heater.

In front of the two helm chairs (*) there is a lifting hatch in the sole and within this area is a storage compartment for additional galley stores and pantry items.

Clever. Clean, Quiet.
